OpenAI rolls GPT-6 out to every ChatGPT tier with Intelligent UI, including free users from 8 October
OpenAI announced GPT-6 in the ChatGPT chat tab on 2026-10-07, with the rollout reaching Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise tiers the same day and Free and Go tiers from 2026-10-08. Paid tiers run GPT-6 Sol and free tiers GPT-6 Luna, and ChatGPT now serves more than 1.2 billion weekly users. The release introduces Intelligent UI: responses compose text, visuals and interactive elements (charts, forms, tappable calculators, games) from a library of streamable components, and the model interleaves thinking with answering, starting 44 percent sooner on web-search questions than GPT-5.6 Instant. Models behind Work and Codex are unchanged by this release.
What it means for buyers
The baseline free assistant moved for the buyers our personal-agent comparison tracks: Muse, Instinct and other standalone personal agents now compete against a default ChatGPT that renders interactive interfaces, not just prose, on every tier including free. For a GEO site this is also an answer-surface shift, since engines increasingly assemble comparison-style interfaces themselves rather than linking out, which sharpens the case for the dated-claims data in our research datasets.
